Draft Genome Sequence of the Termite-Associated “Cuckoo Fungus,” Athelia (Fibularhizoctonia) sp. TMB Strain TB5

Atheliales is a diverse order of crust-forming Basidiomycota fungi. Here, we report the draft genome of the “cuckoo fungus,” Athelia (Fibularhizoctonia) sp. strain TMB (Atheliales), which forms termite-egg-mimicking sclerotia for which termites care. We further compare its repertoire of psilocybin gene homologs to homologs previously reported for Fibularhizoctonia psychrophila.

Genome Sequence of Hymenobacter polaris RP-2-7T, Isolated from Arctic Soil

Hymenobacter polaris RP-2-7T was isolated from soil from the Arctic region. This study presents the genome sequence of Hymenobacter polaris RP-2-7T, generated using the Illumina HiSeq platform. The genome size is 5,587,174 bp; it contains 4,721 genes and has 62.8 mol% DNA G+C content.

Complete Genome Sequence of Novel Polerovirus-Associated RNA Infecting Pepper (Capsicum spp.) in South Africa

The complete genome sequence of novel polerovirus-associated RNA infecting pepper in South Africa was determined. The nucleotide sequence identity of 78.3% with closely related species suggested that this associated RNA was novel, and the name Pepper Vein Yellows Virus-associated RNA is proposed for this RNA fragment.

Genome Sequence of the Fungus Nannizziopsis barbatae, an Emerging Reptile Pathogen

Nannizziopsis barbata is an emerging fungal pathogen capable of causing contagious dermatomycosis in reptiles. Here, we report a 31.54-Mb draft genome sequence of an isolate originating from an infected eastern water dragon in Brisbane, Australia.

A 24-Year-Old Sample Contributes the Complete Genome Sequence of Fowl Aviadenovirus D from the United States

Here, we report the complete genome sequence of fowl adenovirus D (FAdV-D) isolated from a preserved 24-year-old pancreas sample of a broiler chicken embryo. The results of the sequence showed that the viral genome is 44,079 bp long.

Draft Genome Sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica Serovar Livingstone 1236H, a Desiccation-Resistant Strain That Poses a Salmonellosis Hazard in Low-Moisture Foods

Salmonella enterica serovar Livingstone 1236H was isolated originally from peanut butter and represents a health risk in low-moisture foods. The current work presents the strain’s genome sequencing results, which show a 4,824,729-bp genome sequence and 4,435 protein coding sequences, including some that are involved in adaptation to low-moisture environments.

Genome Annotations of Two Bacillus Phages, Tomato and BaseballField

Tomato and Baseball Field are Bacillus bacteriophages that were isolated and annotated by students in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Phage Hunters program. Tomato has a unique truncation of the tape measure gene that is not found in other closely related C1 Bacillus phages. Baseball Field is a strictly lytic phage with a compact genome of 26 kb.

Draft Genome Sequence of Pseudomonas sp. Strain T2.31D-1, Isolated from a Drilling Core Sample Obtained 414 Meters below Surface in the Iberian Pyrite Belt

We report the draft genome of Pseudomonas sp. strain T2.31D-1, which was isolated from a drilling core sample obtained 414 m below surface in the Iberian Pyrite Belt. The genome consists of a 4.7-Mb chromosome, with 4,428 coding sequences, one rRNA operon, and 59 tRNA genes, and a 31.8-kb plasmid.

Coding-Complete Genome Sequences of an Iteradensovirus and an Alphapermutotetra-Like Virus Identified from the Pine Processionary Moth (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) in Portugal

The coding-complete nucleotide sequences of an iteradensovirus (family Parvoviridae) and an alphapermutotetra-like virus (family Permutotetraviridae) were discovered from transcriptomic data sets obtained from Thaumetopoea pityocampa larvae collected in Portugal. Each of the coding-complete genome sequences of these viruses contain three main open...

Draft Genome Sequence of NYR20, a Red Pigment-Secreting Mutant of Saccharomyces cerevisiae

A Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant strain, NYR20, produces a red pigment owing to adenine auxotrophy. Unlike other yeast adenine biosynthetic mutants, this strain not only produces but also secretes this pigment. Here, we report the NYR20 draft genome sequence, thereby advancing our understanding of pigment secretion mechanisms.
