Microbial Diversity Analysis of Sediment from Yeosu New Harbor of South Korea Using 16S rRNA Gene Amplicon Sequencing

The Yeosu New Harbor in the South Korean benthic environment shows a mesotrophic environment affected by the Tsushima Current and the Seomjin River. Here, we report microbial diversity in sediments of Yeosu New Harbor based on 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. The dominant bacterial phylum was Proteobacteria (relative abundance, 72.5 to 78.1%).

Bacterial Diversity Profiling around the Orca Seamount in the Bransfield Strait, Antarctica, Based on 16S rRNA Gene Amplicon Sequences

Hydrothermal vent activity is often associated with submarine volcanism. Here, we investigated the presence of microorganisms related to hydrothermal activity in the Orca seamount. Data profiling of the 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequences revealed a diversity pattern dominated mainly by the phyla Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Planctomycetes, and Bacteroidetes.

16S rRNA Gene Amplicon Sequencing of Gut Microbiota in Three Species of Deep-Sea Fish in Suruga Bay, Japan

We report here 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequence analysis of the gut microbiota in three species of deep-sea fish collected from Suruga Bay, Japan. Of the three species, two were dominated by the phylum Proteobacteria (genus Photobacterium), while one was dominated by the phyla Spirochaetes (genus Brevinema) and Tenericutes (unclassified Mycoplasmataceae).

16S rRNA Gene Diversity of Bacterial Endophytes in Parasitic Cuscuta campestris and Its Helianthus annuus Host

Here, we report the results of 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing of bacterial endophytes from parasitized and unparasitized samples of the common sunflower (Helianthus annuus) and samples of its associated plant parasite field dodder (Cuscuta campestris), collected from one location in Fresno County, California (August 2017).

16S rRNA Gene Amplicon Sequencing Data of Tailing and Nontailing Rhizosphere Soils of Mimosa pudica from a Heavy Metal-Contaminated Ex-Tin Mining Area

The 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequence data from tailing and nontailing rhizosphere soils of Mimosa pudica from a heavy metal-contaminated area are reported here. Diverse bacterial taxa were represented in the results, and the most dominant phyla were Proteobacteria (41.2%), Acidobacteria (17.1%), and Actinobacteria (14.4%).

16S rRNA Gene Diversity in Ancient Gray and Pink Salt from San Simón Salt Mines in Tarija, Bolivia

DNA from 250 million-year-old pink and gray salts from mines in Tarija, Bolivia, subjected to 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing and analysis provided evidence for similar but distinct prokaryotic communities. The results constitute a snapshot of archaeal and bacterial microorganisms in these remote and ancient salt deposits.

Sequences of Endophytic Fungal and Bacterial Communities from Araucaria araucana [(Molina) K. Koch, 1869] in the Coastal and Andes Mountain Ranges, Chile

Here, we report the results from PCR and sequencing of bacterial 16S rRNA and fungal internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) genes from needle, branch, trunk, and root samples of Araucaria araucana, plus soil and associated insects, collected along the entirety of its geographic distribution in Chile (January 2017 and 2018).

16S rRNA Gene Amplicon Profiling of Baby and Adult Captive Elephants in Thailand

Here, we present a 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequence data set and profiles demonstrating the bacterial diversity of baby and adult elephants from four different geographical locations in Thailand. The dominant phyla among baby and adult elephants were Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Proteobacteria, Kiritimatiellaeota, Euryarchaeota, and Tenericutes.

Eukaryotic Microbial Communities in Japanese Arable Andisols Investigated by Amplicon Sequencing of 18S rRNA Genes

Compared with the well-studied soil prokaryotic communities, little is known about soil eukaryotic communities. Here, we investigated the eukaryotic community structures in 43 arable soils using amplicon sequencing of 18S rRNA genes. Major taxonomic groups, such as Fungi, Holozoa, and Stramenopiles, were detected in all samples.

16S rRNA Gene Amplicon Sequence Data from Feces of Wild Deer (Cervus nippon) in Japan

We report 16S rRNA amplicon sequence data from feces of 109 wild deer in Japan. The dominant bacterial taxa in fecal microbiota of wild deer hunted between village and mountainous areas and those living on Miyajima Island and in Nara Park were similar but differed in abundance.
